Unlike in quantitative methodology, where you can fairly parsimoniously distinguish between, say, regression analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis, most methodologies for media analyses do not fall into neat boxes. We are therefore aware that our categorization of methodologies is subject to legitimate criticism. Nevertheless, we hope that our systematization, as clumsy it might be, will help to enable an overview of the methodological opportunities in media research.
We will start our overview with Discourse Analysis and Frame Analysis and will be gradually adding more methodologies.
